Barnardos Big Active, supported by Aldi, is a schools focused fundraising initiative that takes a holistic approach to supporting the overall wellbeing of your students. It contains three components that focus on students physical wellbeing, their mental health and the community around them. In doing so it promotes three different kinds of activities: physical challenges that take care of your body, mindfulness exercises to look after your mental wellbeing and activities that promote the importance of charity.
We call those Heart, Body and Mind.
All three components can be implemented in your classroom as part of weekly activities and learning objectives and this will support students throughout the school year. We want to provide you and your class with lots of resources and activities to help you introduce this new learning and to allow you check in with your Body, Mind and Heart regularly.
Your Big Active pack will contain supporting questions for a pre and post evaluation of your class to help teachers establish where students are as they start their Big Active activities and where they feel they are on completion.
